It has been a while since we have written about  Architecture, but thanks to ArtInfo and Jana Perkovic, here are 13 of the most anticipated buildings for 2016.  Below are two examples. To see them all,  View the Slideshow.

World Trade Center Transportation Hub, New York:

“It looks like, after years of delays and spiraling costs, the new transportation hub in the regenerating part of Manhattan will finally open in 2016. The stunning design by Santiago Calatrava is, in his own words, reminiscent of a bird being released from a child’s hands, with wings supported by “columns of light”.

“’At night, the illuminated building will serve as a lantern in its neighborhood,’” said Calatrava, while the “Oculus,” the upper portion of the building, will serve as the main concourse. Once completed, the Transportation Hub will serve more than 200,000 visitors, and be the third largest transportation center in New York City, rivalling Grand Central Station in size.
